Aftercare Advice

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Please call with any questions or concerns you may have after the treatment.

Post Treatment Instructions:

  • Immediately after the treatments, there may be redness and bumps at the treatment area, which may last up to 2 hours or longer. It is normal for the treated area to feel like sunburn for a few hours.  You should use a cold compress if needed.  If any crusting, apply Antiseptic cream.  Aloe Vera gel or some other after sunburn treatment such as Savlon Healing Gel can be used.  Darker pigmented people may have more discomfort than lighter skin people and may require the aloe vera gel or an antibiotic ointment for longer.
  • Moisturiser will help the dead hair exfoliate from the follicle, so after 24 hours, use moisturiser frequently and freely on the treated area. Any moisturiser without AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) will work. AHA’s can exfoliate the uppermost layers of skin.
  • Your skin will be more sensitive, which means sun exposure should be avoided completely for a few days after treatment. At all times throughout the treatment and for 2 months following the end of the treatment, use sunscreen SPF 25 or higher.
  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. DO NOT USE any other hair removal methods or products on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving your best results.
  • You may shower after the laser treatments. The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry and NOT rubbed.   You may apply deodorant after 24 hours.
  • No chlorinated pools or saltwater swims for seven days after your treatment.
  • Anywhere from 5-30 days after the treatment, shedding of the hair may occur and this may appear as new hair growth. This is not new hair growth, but dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle.  You can help the hair exfoliate by washing or wiping with a washcloth.
  • Hair re-growth occurs at different rates on different areas of the body. New hair growth will not occur for at least three weeks after treatment.
  • FACE - Makeup may be used after the treatment, unless there is epidermal blistering. It is recommended to use new makeup to reduce the possibility of infection and always ensure you apply a moisturiser under your makeup.

Avoid Retinol for at least 5 days after treatment and again 5 days before the next session.

SPRAY TANNING

Please call with any questions or concerns you may have after the treatment.

WHILST THE TAN IS  DEVELOPING

  • Stay away from water. Do not wash your feet or hands immediately after your tan. Stay away from activities that make you sweat including the gym.  In case of rainy weather, even if it is droplets, carry an umbrella. Even a few drops of water can cause spots of discoloration on your skin.
  • Do not use deodorants and perfumes immediately. The presence of alcohol and aluminum in these products will react with your spray tan resulting in uneven spots and blotches.
  • Wear flipflops, not shoes and long boots. Shoes and boots can can restrict the development of tan on your feet.
  • If you have long hair, keep it tied up for as long as possible as it will obstruct proper tanning to your shoulders.
  • For 8 hours, avoid any form of exercise that may cause you to perspire.
  • Whilst you tan is developing, avoid touching or rubbing your skin.
  • Do not apply Moisturizers immediately after getting the spray tan.

AFTER DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTAINING YOUR TAN

  • A hot bath is always tempting and relaxing, but for the spray tan, it is a nightmare.  Ensure your water is Lukewarm
  • Do not cleanse your skin thoroughly.
  • Do not use loofahs 0r washcloths
  • Avoid swimming as chlorine can affect your tan.
  • Every single time you shower, ensure that you are simply pat drying yourself using a soft towel. Do not rub your skin.
  • For a long-lasting sun-kissed glow, moisturisation is the key.  Hydrate your skin with a non-oil based moisturising cream or lotion.
  • Do not tint your brows for 48 hours after tanning.

The more moisturisation and care your skin receives, the longer the life of your tan.
